The Reverend Sally Thomas | Ecumenical Officer
Sally Thomas is a minister in the United Reformed Church and currently serves as the Ecumenical Officer for the National Synod of Wales with some time seconded as a staff member with Cytûn. Ordained in 1993, the context of her ministry, first in East Lancashire then Manchester, placed a high priority on ecumenical and interfaith development and social justice. She served on the executive committee for Churches Together in Lancashire and, with Muslim and Christian colleagues, was instrumental in establishing the Building Bridges Interfaith Community Project in Pendle which now has national recognition. As Chair of the Faith Network for Manchester she worked with colleagues to establish the Manchester Multifaith Centre. A significant part of her current ministry is with the Commission of Covenanted Churches including the Faith and Order Group and as Cytûn’s representative on the ecumenical faith and order reference group for CTBI. She is also vice-chair of the national ecumenical forum the Churches Funerals Group and, with colleagues, delivers training for lay people on conducting funeral services and ministering to the bereaved.
