The activities and invitations to attend events and consultations continue – it is a pleasure to fly the Council’s banner.

Jan 9   Attended a very populous meeting of the Cross-Party Group on Faith at Y Senedd. “Do prisons work?” was the topic which was introduced by Archbishop John Davies and supported by a panel which included Prison chaplains and an ex Chief Constable.  It was a lively meeting with very meaningful contributions from the audience.

Jan 11 Useful meeting with the Rev Aled Edwards CYTÛN to discuss the inter relationship between our two organisations.

Jan 29   A successful meeting with the Peredur Owen Griffiths to agree and fine tune the FCCW details on CYTÛN’s new web site.

Mar 1   Attended, by invitation of Cardiff City Council, The Wales National Saint David’s Day Civic Service at the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St. David. The Service was led by the Most Reverend George Stack, Archbishop of Cardiff, who also delivered a most appropriate Homily for the occasion

Mar 11   Attended the Meeting of the Wales Inter faith Council – various reports on meeting attended by representatives and time was devoted discussing past and future events as well as reports from representatives of the various local groups. It was noted that the web site was functioning – interfaithcouncilwales.cymru. There is also a twitter account @CymruInterfaith

Mar 15   Sent a message of condolence to the Muslim Council of Wales in view of the huge tragedy in New Zealand where 50 Muslims were killed and over 40 injured in a terrorist attack.

Mar 15 Peredur has added a new Section to our website – Education Issues. It is hosted within CYTÛN’s web site. When that web site is opened there is a sub-heading of PARTNERS and on clicking there you will find Free Church Council of Wales.  Follow the details there and you will see that there is a FCCW home page with four Sections following – as set out below – along with details of what is seen in each Section. The Free Church Council of Wales can also be directly accessed via Google.

We are very indebted to Peredur for achieving all this for FCCW. We now belong to the twenty-first century thanks to him!

 Mar 26    The Annual Interfaith Seminar and Dinner.

Attended, for the third time, but held at St Fagans on this occasion and as usual organised by the Muslim Council for Wales a significant contribution in their respective fields. Again it was a great experience and in total admiration for the manner in which the occasion is organised and supported across the different faiths. There were  two Keynote Speakers The Reverend Rowan Williams, Baron Williams of Oystermouth and Professor Dr Wajli Kanso, Director of The Royal Institute of Inter-Faith Studies as well as an Address by the Chief Guest  the Rt Hon Mark Drakeford. Awards were presented to the three speakers and also to five other individuals who have made
