Every year, Cytûn takes its place at some of Wales’ most significant national gatherings – the Urdd Eisteddfod, the Royal Welsh Show, and the National Eisteddfod. These events bring together people from every part of Welsh life, culture and community, creating unique opportunities for churches to engage with the nation.
By maintaining a visible ecumenical presence, Cytûn enables Christian denominations and partner organisations to share resources, offer hospitality, encourage conversation, and demonstrate the unity that exists across Wales’ diverse Christian traditions.
The Urdd Eisteddfod and National Eisteddfod, among Europe’s largest cultural festivals, attract tens of thousands of visitors each year, while the Royal Welsh Show remains one of the most important celebrations of rural life and agriculture in the United Kingdom.

Our presence at these national events is about far more than exhibiting. Together with member churches and partner organisations, we create welcoming spaces where faith, culture and public life can meet. Through worship, discussions, exhibitions, family activities, and opportunities for reflection, we seek to contribute positively to the conversations shaping Wales today. Previous Cytûn programmes at the National Eisteddfod have included daily worship, public lectures, exhibitions, children’s activities, and partnerships with organisations working in areas such as social justice, environmental stewardship, education and community development.
You don’t have to be Welsh speaking to enjoy your time or volunteers at the Eisteddfod events. Listen to Rev Richard Andrew and Matthew Forsyth, President and Vice President of the Methodist Conference 2025/26 as they reflect with Dr Cynan Llwyd on the significance of the festival.
This witness work at the main Welsh festivals is organised by Aled and Delyth Davies on behalf of Cytûn. To find out more, or if you would like to volunteer as local churches, please send us a message at either aled@ysgolsul.com or delythwyndavies@hotmail.co.uk, or phone 07894580192.
Alongside these major national gatherings, Cytûn also promotes and supports a wide range of events organised by member churches, ecumenical groups and Christian agencies throughout the year. By sharing these opportunities, we help build a deeper understanding of the ecumenical vision in Wales — a vision rooted in cooperation, mutual respect and shared witness. Our events programme encourages churches and organisations to learn from one another, develop new partnerships, and explore together how the Christian faith can contribute to the flourishing of communities across Wales. Through dialogue, collaboration and friendship, we continue to strengthen the bonds that unite Christians in service of the common good.
