World Day of Prayer 2026: A global ecumenical movement led by women
Cytûn is pleased to share details of World Day of Prayer 2026, an international ecumenical movement led by Christian women, bringing together people across the world in prayer and solidarity.

Each year, women from a different country prepare the worship service, reflecting their own spiritual journey, concerns and culture. For 2026, the service has been prepared by women in Nigeria, who share their longing for peace and comfort in a world marked by anxiety, conflict and uncertainty.
They invite churches and communities to join them on Friday 6 March 2026, in a service based on the theme from Matthew 11:28–30: “I will give you rest: come.”
World Day of Prayer is a remarkable expression of global unity, as a “wave of prayer” travels around the world over 38 hours, beginning in Samoa and continuing through each time zone.
Cytûn encourages churches across Wales to consider taking part, whether by hosting a service for the first time or joining an existing local gathering. Resources including posters, service materials and downloadable content are available through the World Day of Prayer England, Wales and Northern Ireland website: https://www.wwdp.org.uk

Churches are also invited to share photographs and reflections via the Facebook page Dydd Gweddi’r Byd, or to contribute to the booklet Together in Prayer.
As an organisation, we warmly welcome this opportunity to join in prayer and action with Christian women across the world, and to support projects led by Christian charities in many different contexts.
