Cytûn, Churches Together in Wales, has announced a significant shift in its policy engagement approach, launching recruitment for a new Policy Advisory Group whilst introducing more targeted and responsive communications.

To support our work engaging with the Seneddd and the Government of Wales, we have begun seeking nominations for a Policy Advisory Group, with trustees and members across the Cytûn membership being asked to identify suitable candidates. The recruitment follows guidance shared at the recent Leaders’ Meeting in Llandudno and recruitment materials, available in both English and Welsh outlining the range of skills and experience sought for the group, have now been circulated via the members.
These developments reflect our commitment to ensuring that Cytûn remains responsive, collaborative, and impactful in promoting our vision of ecumenism as a mainstay of our shared mission. We’re moving towards a more agile and purposeful approach that will better serve our shared priorities and enable more effective policy engagement across our membership.
Rather than setting a strict deadline, Cytûn acknowledges the challenges of recruiting volunteers and hopes that through concerted efforts across the membership, a group of individuals can be assembled to help shape the policy agenda and serve the vision for impactful ecumenical witness.
Member churches are encouraged to consider potential candidates and circulate the recruitment materials within their networks. Full details and application guidance are available from Cytûn in both English and Welsh.
Communications Strategy
We’re also in the process of realigning our website to provide clearer, more focused online resources. The enhanced platform will make policy briefings, consultation responses, and engagement opportunities easier to find, and will soon feature an alert system to notify subscribers of updates once fully operational. It will also make sure we are fully compliant with the relevant data protection and security requirements.

In a significant change to its communications strategy, Cytûn has moved away from its fixed bi-monthly Policy Bulletin schedule. The organisation will now issue bulletins only when needed, providing focused, timely updates with clear calls to action where member churches’ voices can make the greatest impact. A bulletin, specific to requirement of the Senedd to pass a Legislative Consent Motion in response to the proposed Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill now being considered by the House of Lords, has recently been published.
The changes to the way we work and communicate reflect the renewed commitment to serving the denominations and organisations in membership, and to our shared vision of Christian Unity and Ecumenical partnership.
